Boroujerdi said Iran’s economic relations with Indonesia and other countries continue despite pressure from the United States.
“I tell Indonesia not to be afraid. They can do nothing,” Boroujerdi said in a special interview with ANTARA on Friday.
“Any company and any country that has regular relations with Iran benefits a lot,” he added.
US President Donald Trump in January announced a 25 percent tariff on countries that continue trading with Iran, stepping up economic pressure on Tehran.
Boroujerdi said more than 100 countries maintain economic ties with Iran and have not faced serious problems as a result of Washington’s stance.
“All independent countries believe that the United States is not the king of the world. They cannot dictate their rules to independent countries like Indonesia,” he said.
He acknowledged that US sanctions and tariff measures have created challenges for Iran but said they are not new. Iran has been under heavy US sanctions for more than 47 years, he added.
Despite restrictions, Iran’s economy and technological capabilities have continued to develop, Boroujerdi said, citing advances in education, technology and industry compared with 75 or 76 years ago.

He argued that major powers cannot force other nations to comply with unilateral measures and said similar tariff threats have unsettled the global economy in recent years.
According to Boroujerdi, many countries have suffered from trade tensions and other challenges linked to tariffs and geopolitical disputes.
He called on Indonesia and other nations to expand bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Iran to weather economic uncertainty.
“If they want to pass this difficult era, they must expand cooperation,” he said, adding that countries should show the United States it cannot impose rules on the entire world.
“The United States is one country. It can cooperate with others, but it cannot make rules for the modern world,” he said.
