"The RENAKSI document aligns implementation strategies with funding instruments based on principles of Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI)," said to Nani Hendiarti of the Coordinating Ministry for Food, in a statement on Friday.
The launch of RENAKSI on Wednesday, Feb 18, affirms Indonesia's position as a country with approximately 17 percent of the world's blue carbon reserves. This is supported by 3.45 million hectares of mangrove forests and 660,000 hectares of seagrass meadows.
The Coordinating Ministry for Food coordinated the preparation of RENAKSI, facilitated by the National Blue Carbon Action Partnership (NBCAP). Konservasi Indonesia served as the secretariat for this multi-stakeholder partnership.
Hendiarti stated that RENAKSI serves as a national benchmark for synergizing blue carbon protection with an inclusive funding strategy.
She noted that implementation will be sharpened through cross-sector coordination to follow up on 21 action plans to become priority programs with a direct impact on society.
According to her, the commitment will also be presented at the 2026 Ocean Impact Summit in Bali as part of strengthening national blue carbon governance.
The British Embassy also expressed support for RENAKSI 2025–2030, viewing the document as a milestone in bilateral climate partnerships. It specifically supports the achievement of Indonesia's Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and FOLU Net Sink 2030 targets.
Meanwhile, the World Economic Forum (WEF) commended Indonesia's efforts. The WEF considers the Ocean Impact Summit in Bali a strategic opportunity to encourage green investment and blue economy development.
