"The PPN Ministry will note down suggestions conveyed by the North Penajam Paser district government," Ministry Deputy for Infrastructure Abdul Malik Sadat Idris said in a press release received in Penajam on Wednesday.
He emphasized that the ministry is open to intensive, continuous dialogue with the district government to arrange initiatives aimed at accelerating infrastructure development in Penajam, which hosts parts of Nusantara’s development site.
Intensive synergy and coordination with the central government, he said, are expected to help North Penajam Paser speed up its development programs.
"This relationship can also strengthen the district’s position as the primary partner of IKN, with the ultimate goals of stimulating economic growth and boosting people’s welfare," Idris added.
He made the statement during a recent meeting with representatives from the district government.
Penajam District Head Mudyat Noor, for his part, affirmed that his region is positioned to play an active and strategic role in supporting the development of IKN as Indonesia’s future seat of government.
He said that Penajam envisions itself growing into a buffer region that supports Nusantara with transport infrastructure and socioeconomic strengths.
"The district government has devised a master plan outlining clear data and projections, including those related to national strategic projects," Noor remarked.
Elaborating on the plans, he said the government intends to build a bridge over the Riko River to enhance connectivity with Nusantara and construct two dams to supply raw water to both regions.
He further added that his office is equally determined to boost the quality of educational and health infrastructure and facilities to keep up with the future capital’s development and growth.
