Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) found another body buried by a landslide at the Bantargebang Landfill in Bekasi, West Java, bringing the death toll to five.

"We found one body this afternoon, bringing the total to five deaths," said Romli Prasetyo, Public Relations Officer of Jakarta Basarnas, on Monday.

He added that officers are still searching for four people believed to be buried, while four others have been found alive.

Basarnas Jakarta recorded a total of 13 victims from the landslide, with the four survivors identified as Budiman, Joha, Safifudin, and Slamet.

The deceased included food stall owners Enda Widayanti (25) and Sumine (60), truck driver Dedi Sutrisno, and Irwan Supriatin.

According to Prasetyo, a total of 366 joint personnel were deployed to search for victims, including the Jakarta Search and Rescue Office, the Bekasi Search and Rescue Alert Unit, the Bekasi Metro Police, the Bantargebang Sector Police, and the Military District Command (Koramil),

Followed by the Bekasi Fire Department, the Indonesian Defense Forces Battalion 7/Biring Galih, the Jakarta Metro Police's Community Service Unit (Dalmas), and other authorities.

The joint SAR personnel also utilized heavy equipment such as excavators and deployed the K-9 unit to search for signs of victims.

"In addition, we have also deployed aid equipment for the evacuation," he added.

On Sunday (March 8), a landslide occurred from a 50-meter-high pile of waste in Zone IV of the Bantargebang Landfill.

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, on Monday explained that the incident occurred due to extreme rainfall of up to 264 millimeters.

The landslide occurred in Zone 4A at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. The heavy rainfall caused water to seep into the garbage pile, creating slippery conditions that ultimately triggered the landslide.

He noted that the incident caused a 40-meter stretch of the operational road and the Ciketing River to be covered in garbage.
