Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Health Dante Saksono Harbuwono has advised that children infected with measles should be isolated and refrain from gathering with family members during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday.

“If they contract measles, they must be isolated and should not join family gatherings in their hometowns. If necessary, they should wear masks to prevent transmission to other family members,” Harbuwono said while inspecting a health post for homecoming travelers at Gambir Station here on Tuesday.

He explained that measles symptoms can be detected early as they are visible, such as the appearance of spots on the back of the neck.

“If there is a fever or spots, especially spots on the back accompanied by sweating at the back of the neck or redness, those are signs of measles,” he noted.

He also stated that during the 2026 Eid homecoming period, health service posts available at stations, terminals, ports, airports, and rest areas can be utilized by the public to undergo free health check-ups (CKG) for safer and healthier travel.

“It is hoped that by carrying out preventive measures like this, all those traveling during the homecoming period can have a smooth journey,” he added.

He also found that high blood pressure, or hypertension, was the most common condition experienced by travelers based on the results of the CKG at Gambir Station in Central Jakarta.

“Earlier, I observed at the health post that the most prevalent cases were hypertension, followed by diabetes, and some cases of influenza,” he said.

He noted that those suffering from these conditions received free health checks and were treated immediately, as well as provided with medication from the health post at Gambir Station.

“We hope that everyone remains safe and reaches their destinations, while undergoing health checks provided free of charge,” he said.
