Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Primary and Secondary Education Ministry stated its support for the implementation of the Tunas Regulation through the Seven Habits Movement for Great Indonesian Children (KAIH) and "Screen Time, Screen Zone, and Screen Break (3S)."

The Tunas Regulation refers to the Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on the Protection of Electronic System Governance for Child Protection.

"The ministry supports the Tunas Regulation. We have been involved from its drafting to dissemination. The policy is expected to address problems from non-educational use of devices, games, and the internet," Primary and Secondary Education Minister Abdul Mu'ti said here on Sunday.

As the regulation takes effect, he stressed the ministry will ensure digital literacy programs across institutions run in parallel.

He added digital-based learning in schools will be conducted with teacher supervision, enabling students to use technology wisely.

This step is part of the measures to strengthen digital governance and ensure safe online spaces for children across the country. The ministry believes a healthy learning environment is a main foundation for education.

In such conditions, students can learn, interact with peers and teachers, and build character according to their development.

Previously, on Friday (March 27), Communication and Digital Affairs Minister Meutya Hafid said the government will not compromise with digital platforms that fail to protect children under the Tunas Regulation.

"The government instructs all platforms in Indonesia to align products, features, and services with regulations. There is no compromise on compliance, and all businesses must follow the law," she said.

The Indonesian government has officially restricted social media access for children under 16 on high-risk digital platforms, following comprehensive research on the impact of social media on child development.

This move follows rising public concern over digital addiction and exposure to harmful content, including hoaxes, pornography, cyberbullying, and online scams.
