At the post-meeting press conference, President Prabowo noted that the discussion covered cooperation across strategic sectors, including the economy, energy, and security, reflecting the expanding partnership between the two nations.
"We in Indonesia will make all-out efforts to accelerate the ratification and implementation of the protocol amending the Indonesia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement. I hope we will be able to finish all processes before long," he said, as cited from the Presidential Secretariat's statement here.
Signaling expanded collaboration, the president emphasized that Indonesia remains open to support for its national economy from Japan, including through critical mineral and rare earth development as well as industrialization initiatives aligned with Jakarta's resource downstreaming policy.
He then referred to sustainability, inviting Japan to establish cooperation oriented toward developing energy transition through renewable and nuclear sources.
On regional cooperation, Prabowo underscored the importance of strengthening the Asia Zero Emission Community initiative by involving Japanese companies long operating in Indonesia.
The president further appreciated Japan's energy firm, Inpex Corporation, for investing in Indonesia's gas project in the Masela Block, Maluku. He said the government seeks to advance the project after a long period of stagnation.
"We would also like to invite Japan to engage in cooperation and collaboration across all fields, including education, tourism, and people-to-people programs," he added.
President Prabowo and PM Takaichi convened a bilateral meeting to step up ties, expanding and directing cooperation toward sustainable development, industrial transformation, and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
The engagement took place after Prabowo paid a courtesy call on Emperor Naruhito at the Imperial Palace on Monday (March 30).
