Jakarta (ANTARA) - Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated President Prabowo Subianto's planned visit to Russia in the near future is still awaiting an official announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"Yes, there are such plans, but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will announce the details later. Several countries have already collaborated," Wijaya said during a media briefing at the Presidential Palace Complex here on Friday.

He said that the government is currently exploring cooperation with a number of countries, including in the energy sector.

However, the certainty of the country and the discussion agenda will be officially conveyed by the relevant ministry, he said.

Wijaya pointed out that President Prabowo had just returned from Japan and had produced a number of cooperation agreements, including in the energy and oil sectors.

Wijaya said that the government continues to strengthen international partnerships to support national energy security.

However, he stressed that final confirmation regarding the President's overseas visits, including a possible visit to Russia, would be officially announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"For the next step, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will announce which countries the President has confirmed he will visit," he said.

Russian news agency Sputnik reported on Thursday (4/9) that Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Indonesian leader was being prepared and details would be announced at the right time.

"I can confirm that contacts (between Russia and Indonesia) are indeed underway. We are preparing for negotiations. We will make an appropriate announcement in due course," Peskov said.
