Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, who has newly appointed, said that his assignment was the result of careful consideration by President Prabowo Subianto to support the national strategic programs on food sector.

Faisol said his position as deputy coordinating minister will focus on fully supporting Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan in realizing the government's flagship programs.

"My duty under the coordinating minister will fully support the ministry's work in realizing the president's flagship programs," Nurofiq remarked at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday.

He would immediately get to work after his inauguration, prioritizing the accelerated implementation of various strategic agendas, including the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme and policies to strengthen the national food security.

In addition, he would soon ask for direct instruction from Minister Hasan regarding the priority steps to support the government's programmes.

With strong coordination and hard work, Faisol hopes to deliver the best contribution in maintaining food stability and supporting public welfare.

"I will start to work tomorrow, handling MBG and other issues, with guidance from Minister Hasan," he confirmed.

President Subianto recently inaugurated Hanif Faisol Nurofiq as deputy coordinating minister for food affairs, Monday, at the State Palace in Jakarta.

The deputy coordinating minister for food affairs is a new position within the ministry, where Nurofiq will serve under Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan in achieving food self-sufficiency and running the Waste-to-Energy-Electricity Processing (PSEL) program which has previously been under the auspices of the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs.

Nurofiq previously served as minister of environment. Prior to his appointment, he also served as director general of Forestry Planology and Environmental Management at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

The ceremony was held simultaneously with the inauguration procession of other officials, namely Muhammad Qodari as head of the Indonesian Government Communications Agency, General TNI (Ret.) Dudung Abdurachman as chief of Presidential Staff (KSP), Jumhur Hidayat as minister of Environment, and Abdul Kadir Karding as head of the Indonesian Quarantine Agency (Barantin).
