Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu’ti, inaugurated the 2026 fiscal year school revitalization program in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province as a step to strengthen educational infrastructure in the region.

The inauguration also marked the resumption of revitalization and rehabilitation of various schools, from early childhood education (PAUD) to the senior high school level, this year.

“First, this marks the 2026 (school) revitalization program, and many projects will be carried out in NTT Province as it is a priority region, namely one of the 3T (frontier, underdeveloped, outermost) areas,” Mu’ti said at the Kupang City Christian Kindergarten on Monday.

He added that the ministry will continue to gradually pursue revitalization development, including the construction of new school units in the region.

Furthermore, he said the inauguration of the 2026 school revitalization program for NTT Province was symbolically carried out at the kindergarten level.

This step is also part of efforts to support President Prabowo Subianto’s directive on the 13-year compulsory education program.

For the Kupang City Christian Kindergarten, the ministry has allocated a budget of Rp863.4 million to rebuild the school with two classrooms, one administrative office, toilets, a playground, and educational teaching aids (APE) on a 1,250-square-meter plot of land provided by the Christian Evangelical Church in Timor (GMIT).

On the same occasion, the Principal of Kupang City Christian Kindergarten, Nortje Padaleti, expressed appreciation for the assistance.

“We are greatly assisted by the ministry with this new building. We are very grateful and thankful because the children will be able to study and play freely in the new rooms,” Padaleti said.

A total of 809 schools in East Nusa Tenggara Province, across various levels, will receive the revitalization program in the 2026 fiscal year, with a total budget of Rp630.8 billion or around US$36.2 million.
