Banda Aceh, Aceh (ANTARA) -
The Aceh Provincial Government has allocated more than Rp380 billion or around US$21.8 million for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of agricultural land damaged by flooding that struck the province last year.

“The Aceh Government is currently focused on accelerating all stages, from planning to construction and land processing, so that disaster-affected agricultural land can soon become productive again,” Aceh Regional Secretary M. Nasir said here on Monday.

The budget covers land optimization and rehabilitation to the construction of supporting infrastructure such as irrigation systems and farm roads.

Nasir emphasized that the government continues to expedite post-disaster agricultural land rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts as part of its commitment to maintaining food security and supporting community economic recovery.

He explained that Rp155.6 billion has been allocated for land optimization for rice fields with minor damages. The program covers 16 districts/cities with a total area of 27,071 hectares.

Of that amount, around Rp124.5 billion is allocated for land optimization construction, to be carried out after the planning phase is completed, followed by land processing worth Rp24.3 billion.

Meanwhile, for lands with moderate damages, the Aceh Government is implementing a land rehabilitation program with a total budget of Rp65.2 billion. The program covers five districts with an area of 4,393 hectares.

“At present, the progress of moderate-damage rice field rehabilitation construction, carried out by farmer groups together with the Indonesian Military (TNI), has reached around 3,981 hectares, or the majority of the total target,” he said.

Furthermore, the Aceh Provincial Government has planned 641 units of irrigation pumps across 16 districts/cities with a budget of Rp98 billion.

There is also a construction of pipeline irrigation systems in 13 districts/cities, totaling 149 units with a budget of Rp14 billion, and the development of 45 conservation structures with a budget of Rp5.4 billion.
