Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka held a dialogue with fishermen and shrimp farmers to gather aspirations from coastal communities while reviewing the Red and White Fishermen’s Village (KNMP) in Margasari Village, Lampung, on Friday.

According to a statement received, the dialogue was conducted to directly hear various aspirations and challenges faced by coastal communities.

On the occasion, VP Gibran emphasized the importance of collaboration among all parties in supporting President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programs, especially in achieving food self-sufficiency.

“We want to ensure the success of the President’s priority programs, especially food self-sufficiency. This program will not succeed if only the government works on it. We all must work together,” Gibran stated.

He also said the government continues to strive to fulfill various needs in the agriculture and fisheries sectors to support increased productivity and public welfare.

“We will gradually address the shortcomings. We ask for time to complete these deficiencies,” he remarked.

During the dialogue, fishermen raised several issues, including diesel fuel quotas and licensing for fishing fleets.

In response, Gibran assured that the government would follow up on the various obstacles faced by the community so that fishermen’s activities could run optimally.

“If there are shortcomings related to licensing, diesel fuel quotas, or other matters, please convey them immediately. We will follow them up promptly,” he stated.

In addition to holding discussions with fishermen and shrimp farmers, the vice president also reviewed several supporting facilities, such as a fishermen’s fuel station (SPBN), a portable cold storage facility, and a portable ice factory.

On the occasion, he stressed that the KNMP development must be able to transform fishing villages into productive, modern, and integrated areas that provide greater added value for the community.

“Maximize the facilities and services so that the community can focus on fishing and increasing production output,” he remarked.
