Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Ministry of Manpower has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the labor rights of people with disabilities in the industrial sector by promoting inclusive workplaces.

The ministry's Secretary General, Cris Kuntadi, said support provided by the government goes beyond the recruitment process. It also includes workplace adjustments and the provision of assistive facilities tailored to the needs of people with various disabilities.

“The ministry is present to provide support, from identifying suitable job roles to ensuring supporting facilities are available, so that workers with disabilities can work productively and comfortably,” he said in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday.

He also expressed appreciation for companies that have shown a genuine commitment to creating inclusive workplaces for people with disabilities.

According to Kuntadi, the measures implemented by these companies go beyond merely fulfilling the mandatory one percent quota for workers with disabilities as stipulated in Law Number 8 of 2016 on Persons with Disabilities.

“What these companies have demonstrated shows that inclusivity is not merely an administrative obligation, but a concrete commitment to humanity and recognition of the work potential of people with disabilities,” he said.

The Ministry of Manpower also praised companies that have opened employment opportunities for groups that still frequently face stigma, including people with mental and intellectual disabilities.

“Stigma often becomes the greatest barrier. However, these companies have shown that with proper support and management, people with mental and intellectual disabilities can make significant contributions to business growth,” he added.

He expressed hope that such initiatives would encourage more companies across the country to adopt similar practices and create more equal and inclusive employment opportunities.

“We want more companies to realize that inclusive workplaces are not only possible, but can also strengthen productivity, solidarity, and human values in the working environment,” he said.
