Prabowo made the statement while visiting the Red and White Fishermen’s Village (KNMP) in South Leato, Dumbo Raya Sub-district, Gorontalo City, on Saturday (May 9).
According to a press release from the RI Government Communication Office (Bakom) on Sunday, Prabowo acknowledged the hardships faced by the fishermen who confront major risks at sea every day to support their families and provide food supplies for the public.
"I understand. I am a former soldier and I understand that fishermen face great risks. At sea, things are not easy. The weather can change and the currents can shift," Prabowo said before fishermen and members of the public attending the event.

Prabowo said fishermen play an important role for the nation as they help maintain food security through fishery products that serve as a source of protein for the public.
"You risk your lives to earn a living for your families, your communities, and your nation. I thank you for that," the President remarked.
Prabowo affirmed that his administration is committed to improving the welfare of fishermen across Indonesia through the development of KNMP, the provision of supporting fishery facilities, and boat assistance for fishermen groups.
The President said he hopes Indonesian fishermen will enjoy better and more prosperous lives as their incomes improve.
"I want our fishermen to prosper. I want them to smile every day because they earn a good income," Prabowo remarked to applause from the fishermen.
