“Food is safe, energy is safe. Many countries are panicking, Indonesia is still okay,” Prabowo said in Nganjuk, East Java, on Saturday.
Prabowo noted that there are still parties who continue to express concerns that Indonesia will face collapse and chaos, including regarding the rupiah’s weakening rate against the United States dollar.
However, he said that people in villages do not rely on the US dollar in their daily lives.
He assessed that national food and energy resilience remains secure amid the current global situation.
Prabowo also revealed that several countries have begun requesting assistance from Indonesia amid global turmoil caused by the war in the Middle East.
He said the requests include fertilizers and rice, following disruptions to global supply chains due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
“Many countries are asking for fertilizer from Indonesia. We are not euphoric, we are not arrogant, but we are in a position to provide assistance,” he said.
Prabowo noted that Australia is among the countries requesting fertilizer assistance from Indonesia. The government has decided to sell 500,000 tons of urea to the country.
In addition to Australia, several other countries such as the Philippines, India, Bangladesh, and Brazil were also reported to have requested fertilizer from Indonesia.
Prabowo said he has instructed that all such requests be accommodated.
Moreover, he stated that Indonesia must be able to safeguard its natural wealth and resources for the greatest prosperity of its people.
The President expressed optimism that Indonesia can rise to become a strong nation in the near future.
“I am determined, I believe, and I am optimistic that soon in the near future we will rise,” Prabowo said.
