"We have the Tourism Village Program. Later, we will develop tourism potential in the Anyer-Carita-Cinangka area," Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Yandri Susanto, said in a statement received here on Monday.
He attended the opening of a resort in Carita Sub-district, Serang District, Banten Province, on Sunday (May 17).
The tourism villages being developed will collaborate with several hotels in the area to provide tour package to attract tourists visiting the destinations.
Minister Susanto also expressed hope that a resort would empower local residents. According to him, such empowerment can be carried out not only through employment opportunities, but also through community empowerment programs.

He also expressed confidence that the resort's presence in Carita would increase tourists’ interest in visiting the Anyer-Carita-Cinangka area due to the adequate facilities offered.
The hotel’s presence is also expected to have a positive impact and increase Regional Original Revenue (PAD) for both Banten Province and Serang District.
Meanwhile, Banten Governor Andra Soni praised investors who have developed the tourism sector in Banten province. The investment will help develop the Anyer-Carita area, Soni added, which has been designated as a strategic tourism area of Banten Province.
After the inauguration, Minister Susanto, the Banten governor, and Serang District Head Ratu Rachmatu Zakiyah directly reviewed the facilities owned in the resort.
