Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Deputy Tourism Minister Ni Luh Puspa stated that the newly inaugurated Marsinah Museum in Nganjuk District, East Java is expected to strengthen the tourism appeal of Nglundo Tourist Village.

“The Marsinah Museum is present not only as a space for learning history, but also as a means to strengthen the appeal of cultural and educational tourism in Nglundo Tourist Village,” she said in a statement received in Jakarta on Sunday.

Puspa visited the museum during an official trip to Nglundo on Saturday (May 16), coinciding with its inauguration by Prabowo Subianto, who named Marsinah a national hero last year.

Her visit began at the house where Marsinah, who was born on April 10, 1969, spent her childhood.

During the visit, Puspa toured the bedrooms and main room while observing framed photographs, documents, and memorabilia related to the activist’s life and legacy.

The deputy minister later visited the museum complex adjacent to the house, where she viewed a collection of Marsinah’s personal belongings, including a bicycle, work uniforms, bags, wallets, school diplomas, and notes documenting her struggle.

“The presence of this museum will offer quality and sustainable tourism experiences while also providing educational value to the public,” Puspa remarked.

Meanwhile, head of the Nglundo tourism community Eko Harto expressed hope that Marsinah’s recognition as a national hero would further elevate the village’s profile as a tourist destination.

“Our community will make every effort to ensure the comfort of visitors coming to Nglundo Tourist Village,” he said.

Harto noted that the village is still in the early stages of tourism development and requires continued support from the government.

“We are truly hoping for support from the district, provincial, and central governments so that Nglundo Tourist Village can continue to develop,” he stated.

He added that the community is collaborating with a cooperative established under the Red and White Village Cooperatives program to market and distribute local products, including tourism-related offerings.
