"We have submitted this Red Notice for follow-up with Interpol," the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Wisnu Wardana, said on Wednesday.
LA, identified as a woman from Bangka Belitung, allegedly fled the country after being placed on the wanted list in connection with a suspected labor smuggling case.
However, Wardana confirmed that the police investigation team continues to probe the network responsible for sending prospective migrant workers illegally, who were allegedly promised jobs as online gambling operators in Cambodia.
“We will continue pursuing recruiters and coordinators involved in the illegal migrant worker recruitment network, including the possibility that some perpetrators are abroad through international cooperation mechanisms and Red Notice applications,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police Criminal Investigation Unit Yandri Mono explained that the case was uncovered after officers received information about two female migrant workers preparing to depart for Cambodia via Terminal 3 on Saturday, January 17, 2026.
The two prospective migrant workers, identified as AG from Garut and SP from North Jakarta, planned to travel on a TransNusa flight from Jakarta to Kuala Lumpur using connecting tickets from Cambodia Airways to Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Based on the investigation, the two women admitted they had been promised jobs as online gambling administrators with salaries of up to Rp10 million (US$548) per month without having to cover travel expenses.
Police also questioned a man identified as RR, who allegedly assisted the two prospective migrant workers during their departure process for a fee of Rp500,000 (US$27).
“RR is suspected of being involved in arranging travel tickets, directing the departure process, and connecting the prospective migrant workers with parties who assisted with check-in and immigration clearance at the airport,” police said.
For their alleged actions, the suspects were charged under Article 83 in conjunction with Article 68 and/or Article 81 in conjunction with Article 69 of Law Number 18 of 2017 concerning the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers.
“The offense carries a maximum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine of up to Rp15 billion (US$822 thousand),” Mono said.
From January to May 2026, the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police thwarted 89 attempts by illegal migrant workers to depart for Cambodia, Vietnam, and Thailand.
