In a statement received here on Friday, the minister said MUK is being developed as a concrete forest management model that integrates ecological, economic, social, and market interests.
“Through the acceleration of MUK, the Forestry Ministry aims to present an adaptive, productive, and sustainable forest management model capable of addressing challenges related to the green economy, biodiversity conservation, food security, and improving the welfare of communities living around forests,” he said.
To support the initiative, the ministry has established the MUK Implementation Acceleration Task Force to strengthen data support, coordination, and technical follow-up so that implementation can proceed more effectively.
“This task force was established to support the Forestry Ministry, particularly in accelerating the implementation of multi-business forestry. If data support, coordination, or other technical follow-up is needed, it should be communicated immediately so we can advance it together,” Antoni stated.
Meanwhile, Senior Advisor to the Forestry Minister Silverius Oscar Unggul said the MUK Task Force is currently developing two main approaches, namely agroforestry and ecosystem restoration, with a focus on coffee and cocoa commodities.
The two commodities are considered to have strong prospects in global markets and greater resilience to climate change.
By 2045, MUK initiatives centered on coffee and cocoa are projected to increase export value by around Rp418 trillion, create employment for approximately 3.8 million people, support the sustainable management of about 2.5 million hectares of land, and help absorb around 25 million tons of CO2 equivalent emissions.
The MUK Task Force has also identified several priority landscapes for pilot projects, including Bukit Tiga Puluh in Jambi Province, Pesawaran District and South Lampung District in Lampung Province, Wehea Kelay/Bentala in East Kalimantan Province, Kubu Raya District in West Kalimantan Province, and the Peusangan Elephant Conservation Initiative (PECI) in Aceh Province.
