"The government continues to bolster women's and children's protection and intensify coordination across ministries, agencies, regional governments, and community organizations to ensure effective prevention and handling efforts," the ministry's Deputy for Children's Special Protection Titi Eko Rahayu said in Jakarta on Sunday.
She stated that women and children remain highly vulnerable to violent ideologies and radicalism, particularly due to the rapid expansion of digital spaces and information media.
Protecting these groups from radicalism and terrorism requires robust collaboration among the central government, local authorities, law enforcement, service institutions, schools, families, and communities to strengthen a comprehensive system covering prevention, response, rehabilitation, and social reintegration.
To address challenges in regions, the ministry continues to advocate for local governments to expedite the establishment of Regional Integrated Service Units for the Protection of Women and Children, provide safe houses, and improve human-resource capacity.
Furthermore, the ministry is currently drafting technical guidelines on handling child victims of terrorist networks to serve as an implementation blueprint for local governments.
"The ministry also calls for the strengthening of policy and funding support, including through coordination with relevant ministries and agencies to support the optimization of women and children's protection services down to the regional level," Rahayu remarked.
