In a video message to Buddhists marking the Vesak Day celebration on Sunday, the president called on all segments of society to help build a harmonious nation.
"The spirit of this year's Vesak, with its theme of 'Dharma as a Source of Morality and Wisdom, Love as a Source of World Peace,' should inspire us all to continue strengthening brotherhood, spreading kindness, prioritizing dialogue, and maintaining harmony in our lives," Prabowo said.
As a nation with diverse ethnicities, religions, cultures, and traditions, Prabowo said Indonesians are united by a common goal of building a peaceful, just, and prosperous nation.
Therefore, the president emphasized the need to maintain unity and optimism amid global developments and uncertainties.
"We must continue to work hard and help one another to achieve prosperity for all Indonesians," he said.
He added that the values embodied in Vesak Day provide valuable lessons and serve as an important foundation for strengthening the nation's character.
"I am certain and confident that the values of compassion, tolerance, and wisdom taught in Buddhism will further strengthen Indonesia's character as a nation that upholds humanity and peace," he said.
Prabowo also invited all Indonesians to use Vesak Day as an opportunity to strengthen national solidarity.
Concluding his message, the head of state expressed hope that the noble values of Vesak Day would continue to illuminate the nation's development journey.
"May the light of wisdom, peace, and compassion always illuminate our steps in building an advanced, modern, strong, and harmonious Indonesia," Prabowo said.
