The hospital’s President Director, Petronella Marcia Risamasu, said in Jayapura on Monday that this commitment is reflected in ongoing efforts to improve facilities, services, and human resource development to support more modern and integrated healthcare services in Papua.
"The existence of the hospital is part of the Health Ministry's efforts to ensure equitable distribution of healthcare services throughout Indonesia, including in the eastern region," she said.
Risamasu added that the hospital is therefore committed to providing comprehensive, advanced, and patient-centered healthcare services to the community.
“This is in line with the needs of the Papuan people, who previously had to travel outside the region to access certain healthcare services,” she said.

She explained that the hospital is continuing to expand its services, including the preparation of high-tech medical facilities that are expected to become accessible to National Health Insurance (JKN) participants in the near future.
“Currently, one of the services being developed is a more integrated cancer treatment center, alongside improvements in infrastructure and human resource readiness,” she added.
According to Risamasu, very competent healthcare professionals are essential to ensuring the delivery of high-quality and optimal healthcare services.
“We have also begun opening opportunities for international collaboration, such as when Jayapura General Hospital recently hosted a delegation from Papua New Guinea (PNG) to explore cross-border healthcare cooperation,” she said.

She noted that the visit formed part of efforts to strengthen the hospital’s position as an international-standard healthcare institution in the Western Pacific region.
The collaboration is expected to expand to neighboring countries, including the Solomon Islands, as well as other countries across the region.
“In the future, Jayapura General Hospital will also serve as a support center for regional hospitals across Papua. Such collaboration is crucial for strengthening healthcare services, particularly in remote areas,” Risamasu said.
