Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's President Prabowo Subianto had a phone call with the Netherlands' Prime Minister Rob Jetten on Thursday (June 11), discussing international cooperation, the Indonesian-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA), and the latest situation of Strait of Hormuz.

"Prime Minister of the Netherlands Rob Jetten @minpres, and President of Indonesia @prabowo had a good phone conversation today," Dutch Ambassador to Indonesia Marc Gerritsen said on his Instagram account @dubes_belanda as quoted on Friday.

In the conversation, President Subianto and PM Jetten discussed on the importance of international cooperation to maintain security and prosperity in the region and beyond.

They also exchanged views on the development of the IEU-CEPA and the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. Amidst the turbulent global situation, Indonesia and Netherlands continue to collaborate in strengthening its bilateral relations.

"Precisely in a turbulent world, Indonesia and Netherlands are working together to strengthen ties," the post said.

Both countries are said to have close cultural and historical ties and collaborate in various fields, including trade, water, and sustainable agriculture. The Netherlands' government also stated the two countries are like-minded partners in a rapidly changing world.

"And our countries are like-minded partners in a rapidly changing world," the post stated.

President Prabowo visited Netherlands in September of 2025. At that time, he was officially received by the King of Netherlands, Willem-Alexander, and Queen Máxima at Huis ten Bosch Palace in The Hague, Netherlands.

They discussed various important issues, including strengthening bilateral relations between two countries in various strategic areas. Both leaders shared military backgrounds, a common experience that helped foster a close connection during the meeting.

The meeting reflected the shared commitment of Indonesia and Netherlands to continue strengthening relations and expanding opportunities for future cooperation.
