The King and Queen's personal welcome to President Prabowo on his arrival at Huis ten Bosch Palace in The Hague was regarded as a profound gesture of respect from the Royal Couple, according to a statement from the Presidential Secretariat.
Upon arriving at the Palace, the president wrote his name in the official guest book before entering the state room, where he was welcomed by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima.
The President and the Royal Couple stood for a group photograph for a moment before King Willem-Alexander invited the president to sit and begin their talks.
They discussed strategic issues during the meeting, which included bilateral relations and strategic cooperation.
The Royal Couple's warm welcome to the Indonesian president was described as reflecting decades-long friendship between Indonesia and the Netherlands that will continue progressing on a positive path.
The Presidential Secretariat also highlighted that President Prabowo and King Willem-Alexander share a military background, which contributed to their friendly and warm encounter at Huis ten Bosch Palace.
President Prabowo arrived at Schiphol International Airport, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on Thursday, September 25, at 9:45 a.m. local time. He was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Prabowo's visit to The Hague was the final leg of his international visit before returning to Jakarta on September 26 or 27.
He commenced his visit on September 19 to visit the Indonesian Pavilion at the Osaka Expo in Japan on September 20, before continuing to New York to attend the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) on September 22-23.
