Manado, North Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - Ninety-minute fireworks displays to celebrate New Year Eve in Manado was recorded in the Indonesia Record Museum (MURI).

MURI Manager Paulus Pangka here Saturday said the non-stop 90-minute fireworks displays broke the the MURI record.

"The firework show was recorded as the 4,684th award of MURI records," he said.
The previous fireworks record of MURI had been in Jakarta in 2003, which the displays had lasted for 55 minutes continuously, he explained.

Thousands of Madano residents watched the fireworks at Manado Boulevard commercial center.

Paulus Pangka presented the Muri record awards to North Sulawesi Governor Sinyo Sarundajang, Manado Mayor GSV Lumentut and North Sulawesi Provincial Police Chief Brigadier General Carlo Tewu.

Manado Deputy Mayor Harly Mangindaan told the press that fireworks displays would be organized annually to celebrate New Year Eve.
