Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Gayus HP Tambunan, a junior tax officer who is behind bars for corruption and tax evasion, has confessed he had obtained a passport in the name of Sony Laksono from a broker, a police spokesman said.

"Gayus has been interrogated and he admitted that the passport he used to travel overseas was obtained from a broker," National Police spokesman Inspector General Anton Bachrul Alam said here Friday.

Anton said police were still questioning Immigration Office personnel on how Gayus could obtain a passport and his motive for making overseas trips after he was detained.

"Gayus also confessed he had used the passport to make trips with his wife to Macau, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore," he said.

The Criminal Detective Body (Bareskrim) and General Directorate of Immigration knew the travel data to abroad done by Sony Laksono with the picture on the passport similar to the former junior tax officer.

"Passport checking on behalf of Gayus has been done and the result was none. His passport is valid from 2008 to 2013 and the Police has confiscated it after he returned from Singapore," Anton said.

The cop found that the passport on behalf of Sony Laksono was actually reserved for Margareta.(*)
