Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian and United States air forces will continue to develop their cooperation, especially in education and joint exercises.

This was revealed in a courtesy call of US Press Attache for Indonesia Colonel Kevin A Booth to the Halim Perdanakusuma airbase in Jakarta Wednesday.

In a meeting with commander of the airbase Air Commander M. Nurullah, Booth expressed his wish to continue and increase the cooperation with the Indonesian Air Force.

In the closed-door meeting the two also discussed a draft cooperation in the form of joint exercises between the two sides which had already been carried out.

Chief spokesman for the Halim Perdanakusuma air base Major Sus Ali Umri Lubis said one of the joint exercises routinely carried out is the "Teak Iron" involving air force transport aircraft of the two countries.

"The joint exercises include parachuting techniques and distribution of logistics, using C-130 Hercules planes," he said.

In education, the air forces of the two countries will also exchange officers for study at their respective staff and command schools. (*)
