"The immigration officers are questioned to see how they checked Gayus`s passport and how he could pass the immigration check," National Police Headquarters spokesman Chief Commissioner Boy Rafli Amar said.
The six immigration officers are Zulkifli, former chief of the traffic section at the East Jakarta immigration office, Dadang Suganda, coordinator of the immigration office`s passport distribution unit, and Trisasongko, chief of the immigration office`s subdirectorate unit.
The others are Agus Ari Wicaksono, Ketut Satriawijaya and Ahmad Jefri, all of them immigration officers at Soekarno-Hatta airport.
Boy said Zulkifli was questioned on Friday after he did not show up at the National Police Headquarters for questioning the day before.
Gayus had been declared a suspect in illegal foreign trips since Wednesday (Jan 12) and already been questioned for 13 hours.
He had used a fake passport to visit Macau on Sept 22-24, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore on Sept 30- Oct 2 last year.
Police had established that Gayus`s fake passport under the name of Sony Laksono was actually intended for a five-year-old child named Margareta.
Gayus had confessed he had obtained the passport in a value of US $100,000 through middlemen.
Police are currently searching for two persons suspected of being members of a passport forgers syndicate that had provided Gayus with an overseas travel document.
Boy said on Thursday police investigators would soon issue a list of wanted persons (DPO).
The two wanted persons were J1 and J2, Boy said, adding one of them was a foreign citizen and the other an Indonesian.
The search for the two suspected syndicate members was due to development in recent investigation of suspected A who was arrested on Wednesday.(*)
