Gorontalo, News Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - Some restaurant owners in Gorontalo, North Sulawesi, had raised the price of food they are serving as the price of chili had increased substantially.

The restaurant owners said the price of their food had been raised since a couple of days ago along with the high price of chili.

"The price of chili is now quite high, and affects the price of food we are serving," Warno, a restaurant owner in Kota Gorontalo, said here Monday.

He said most people in Gorontalo like spicy food.

He added that the price of chili at the local market had been raised significantly from Rp50 thousand to Rp55 thousand per kilogram.

"A drop in the price of chili, will affected prices of food," he said.

Tifon, another restaurant owner, said that increased price of chili also raised production cost.

According to him, if the food we are serving is tagged with the old prices, the restaurants would gain no profit.

"We tried to maintain old food prices, but then we got no profit because chili prices had gone up," Titon said.
