Give sanctions to those who have made mistakes, whether it`s human error, leadership error, etceteraDubai (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has asked for an immediate investigation of a recent train collision involving KA Mutiara Selatan and KA Kutojaya and killing several people.
"I have asked the vice president to find out what have gone wrong because similar accidents have occurred several times," President Yudhoyono said at a press conference during transit in Dubai on his way home from Switzerland, early Sunday.
He said that he had paid full attention to train accidents which had quite frequently happened over the past five years.
The president emphasized the importance of being responsible and making correction.
"Give sanctions to those who have made mistakes, whether it`s human error, leadership error, etcetera," he said.
"Public transportation users must be given safety guarantee and better comfort. I am giving special attention to the transportation sector, because I have considered there have been quite many accidents which should not have happened, over the past five years," he said.
He expressed condolences to families of those who had been killed in the train crash.
Tree people were killed and 16 injured in the collision between Mutiara Selatan and Kutojaya Selatan trains in Kota Banjar railway, West Java, early on Friday (Jan 28).
Mutiara Selatan which was on its way from Surabaya, East Java, to Bandung (West Java) collided with Kutojaya traveling from Bandung to Central Java, at 3 am Friday.(*)
