Basrief declined to comment on the House Commission III`s stance
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Attorney General Basrief Arief reaffirmed here on Tuesday that Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputies Bibit Samat Rianto and Chandra Hamzah were no longer suspects.

The Attorney General`s Office (AGO) had set aside their case including their status as suspects, he said after attending a coordination meeting with the KPK leadership and National Police Chief General Timur Pradopo at the KPK building.

The House of Representatives Legal Commission III decided on Monday to reject the presence of Bibit and Chandra at any hearing with the KPK because it still considered them suspects despite the AGO`s s decision to shelve their case.

Basrief declined to comment on the House Commission III`s stance. He said "actually no discussion had been done on the issue just now. It is out of context. So if the AGO is confronted with the legislative body, I think it is not correct because their views could be different."

He said he also did not wish to get involved in politics by commenting on the House Commission III`s stance.

"So if it is political it is not my competence. I stick to the legal corridor, law enforcement for the sake of legal certainty," he said.(*)
