Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Russia is not interfering much in the political situation in Egypt and believes that the country can resolve the crisis, said Russian Foreign Minister in a press release received by ANTARA.

In the release, the Minister stated that Russia would not force the Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak to quit power. The people and leadership in Egypt were the one who have the most right on the sustainability of the country, he added.

"We don`t consider that giving any instructions from outside or delivering ultimatums is useful for Egypt. Its political forces in Egypt who should settle it," Lavrov stated.

Moreover, he added in the release, he hoped the political crisis in Egypt could be finished soon, so the country could be the stable, prosperous and democratic state.

"Egypt is our strategic partner and a key country in the Middle East region. That it?s why we are not indifferent to what is happening there and are interested in Egypt being a stable, prosperous and democratic state and want today`s socio-economic and political problems to be peacefully solved as soon as possible," stressed the Minister.

He underlined that Russia was against putting external pressure on the Egyptian leadership and people, and he believed that the country has to decide itself how to resolve the current political crisis.
