Moscow (ANTARA News/RIA Novosti) Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin has dropped plans lauded by former mayor Yury Luzhkov to build 100 hi-tech toilet cubicles around the capital, a source in the city administration said on Thursday.

Luzhkov announced the project to build state-of-the art toilet cubicles, which would double up as advertising platforms, in March 2008. He envisioned scattering 100 fancy loos across the main tourist areas of the city and in tourist hot-spots on Russia`s historic golden ring.

"Sobyanin signed a decree to annul the [project] documentation signed by Luzhkov," the source said.

Luzhkov, who held office for 18 years, was fired in September 2010 after an extensive smear campaign against him by the state-run Russian media. Sobyanin has been gradually rejecting many of the former mayor`s pet projects since he took office. (*)
