According to a Gorontalo National University (UNG) sociologist Funco Tanipu, violence has become a public discourse and reproduced daily by television stations and it variants, which then formed a collective typical pattern.
"News about chaos, clashes between people and security forces had also become a symbol of violence in television," he said.
The situation also has a potential impact on public development and may weaken public social integration and tolerance, he said.
It is also reflected in television as a means of public information dissemination and had no space for negotiation with the public, instead it has been formed as a community doctrine.
Besides, the media nowadays has considered their viewers as a business area only.
The public must have access to control the media, in order to broadcast minimum violence that arouses people to become aggressive in handling the matter, he said.
"We shall not become a nation who considers violence the only solution to problems," he said.
