Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The remains of former cooperatives minister Bustanil Arifin who died in Los Angeles on Saturday were scheduled to arrive in Jakarta on February 19, a family member said.

Bustanil Arifin`s niece, Ratna Sari Loppies, said here Sunday that the former minister passed away at Cedar Sinar Hospital in Los Angeles on Saturday at the age of 85.

He had a diabetes complication since January and was hospitalized at the Los Angeles hospital, she said.

Meanwhile, Indonesian National Logistics Agency (Bulog)`s CEO Sutarto Alimoeso told ANTARA that Bustanil Arifin`s dead body would be welcomed in accordance with existing procedures.

However, he still has no idea where and when Bustanil Arifin would be buried, he said.

The house of mourning of the late Bustanil Arifin is located at 2 Hang Tuah VII street in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.

Bustanil Arifin was born in Padang Panjang, West Sumatra, on October 10, 1925. During the Soeharto era, he was appointed cooperatives minister/head of Bulog (1983-1988 and 1988-1993). (*)
