"We were heading to Australia to seek asylum there but the boat we were traveling on had an engine trouble."Aceh Besar, Aceh Province (ANTARA News) - Two of 129 rescued Myanmar`s refugees at Aceh Besar district in Aceh Province on Tuesday were given intensive medical treatment for dehydration.
"The two Myanmarese refugees are given an infusion at Masjid Raya clinic because of dehydration," clinic spokesman Aidil said on Wednesday.
The 129 asylum seekers from Myanmar were rescued before midnight on Tuesday by local fishermen after they were discovered being tossed about at Krueng Raya waters in Aceh Besar district.
Nur Alam, one of the refugees, said the boat they were traveling on had been stranded at sea for 25 days before they were discovered and rescued by Aceh fishermen.
After being rescued to Krueng Raya port, two of the refugees were rushed to a local clinic for intravenous feeding because of dehydration, while the rest were in weak condition because they were hungry.
"We were heading to Australia to seek asylum there but the boat we were traveling on had an engine trouble," Nur Alam said in broken Bahasa Indonesia.
Nur Alam admitted that they had to leave their country to avoid torture, but he refused to name who really tortured them.
The 129 asylum seekers from Myanmar are at present accommodated at a number of building near Malahayati port in Krueng Raya.
