Teguh said here on Tuesday that the president`s statement that he had been fed up with different commitments to building infrastructure in Jakarta which were actually only an empty slogan, was a reflection that the Jakarta government was not able to convince investors to play a role in development of infrastructure.
"The president actually would ask clarity on who is going to make investment, when it would be carried out and where the investment is going to be located. This means infrastructure investment must be clear. It should not be made perfunctorily. I see that development is carried out in Jakarta perfunctorily. Investment was made without assessing its long-term impact," the PAN politician said.
He also gave an example of how the Jakarta government wasted state money in carrying out investment. Development in Jakarta is only oriented to projects without thinking whether the projects are useful or not.
"I can only see many examples such as the construction of a flyover in the Kuningan area, namely in Jalan Satrio in front of a mall. It is just not correct," he said.
The flyover was built to overcome traffic congestion in the area but the Jakarta government should have been aware of the fact that the traffic jams would be created by allowing the development of the mall in the area.
The Jakarta government should have built a railway not a flyover, he said.(*)
