"The situation in Libya is not improving, we are very concerned to see the violence."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia hoped that the Libyan Government and its people could solve problems in their country through peaceful means and a democratic dialogue, Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa said here Wednesday.
Despite his expectation, Minister Marty Natalegawa also expressed concern over Libya`s situation, which was not improving and violence had caused the deaths of a number of protesters.
"The situation in Libya is not improving, we are very concerned to see the violence. We expect both the Libyan people and government can solve the problem peacefully, democratically and through dialogue," he said.
Marty said that the Foreign Ministry was preparing several options for the evacuation and repatriation of 875 Indonesian Citizens from Libya.
"One of the most credible options is that they must stay in at home and then move to the Indonesian embassy, then leave Libya if necessary," he said.
The evacuation of Indonesian citizens from Libya is considered as a challenge because it is completely different from the recently Egyptian evacuation, Marty said.
"The situation in Libya is different from Egypt`s where the local government has a chance to open up and facilitate Indonesian citizens but what has happened in Libya is completely different because all air, land and sea routes have problems," he said.
Marty also asked Indonesian citizens in Libya to keep in touch with the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Tripoli and ask for its protection.
Some 600 Indonesians in Libya were migrant workers, while the rest are students and informal workers and asked to avoid crowded places.
