Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Finance minister Agus Martowadojo wished 28,000 of his employees to immediately submit their wealth reports to maintain and improve the quality standard of professionalism.

"If the 28,000 employees could continue reporting their wealth we will be able to better maintain the working quality of the ministry`s employees," he said here on Thursday.

A former employee of the ministry, Gayus Tambunan, has shocked the people following the discovery of his huge wealth allegedly collected through corruption. The former tax employee was recently convicted of corruption and sentenced to seven years but the case of his huge wealth was still under investigation.

Agus Martowardojo said the 28,000 employees who are obliged to submit wealth reports are chief employees or employees that have connections with a third party.

"What we need to assure is that they maintain the standard of professionalism. And therefore for them to be able to be professional there must be transparency," he said.

He said the obligation would not only be for echelon one officials but could also be applied to all employees.

"(It will be) for all echelon one officials and so not only for the directors general of taxation and customs but also the director general of budget and treasury affairs. It is not impossible for it to be applied to all 62,000 employees in the ministry," he said.

In view of that the minister said right now an on-line system was still being built to connect between the ministry`s inspectorate general and the Corruption Eradication Commission so that the officials could submit their wealth reports to the inspectorate general that has been integrated with the KPK.

"In talks with KPK leadership, the reports will be sent to KPK, processed there. We are now still building the system," he said.

The minister said he is now also preparing a team of gratification control that will report to KPK officials that receive gratifications.

"An employee that receives a gift must report to KPK. That report will later be directly given to KPK. We are now still developing the reporting system," he said.
