Bandar Seri Gegawan (ANTARA News) - The governments of Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam have agreed to cooperate on agricultural development.

The singing of the memorandum of understanding to that effect was signed on Thursday at the Nurul Iman Palace, Brunei Darussalam on Thursday.

On the signing of the MoU, Indonesia was represented by Agriculture Minister Suswono while Brunei Darussalam by Industry and Main Resources Minister Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar.

The signing of the MoU was also witnessed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

Yudhoyono at the state banquet said that both nations would strengthen cooperation for the prosperity of the peoples of both countries.

"I noted that cooperation between the two nations covers a very wide area, particularly fields which would bring prosperity to the two countries," he said.

Besides the agricultural field, the two countries also cooperated in such sectors as fishery, forestry, welfare, investment, trade, culture, tourism and others. (*)
