Around 850 Indonesian nationals are currently living in Libya including around 500 formal sector workers recruited by construction company PT Wijaya Karya to build roads and bridges in that North African oil-rich country.Cairo (ANTARA News) - Indonesia is evacuating its nationals from Libya to Tunisia due to the worsening security situation in that country.
"Some 260 Indonesians are leaving for Tripoli to be taken in a first batch to Tunis by Tunisia Air and from there they will be divided into several commercial flights to Jakarta," Indonesian ambassador in Tripoli Sanusi said when contacted by ANTARA News regarding the evacuation from here on Friday.
The first batch mostly consists of women, children and stranded female migrant workers so far being accommodated at the embassy and 20 students, he said.
Regarding the security of more than 100 other students that could not as yet be evacuated Sanusi said they were all safe because they lived in dormitories, adding the embassy was ready to evacuate them in case of an emergency.

Others include around 130 university students, 50 female workers and embassy staff members and their families.
Sanusi said PT Wijaya Karya would rent a plane by itself to evacuate its workers to Jakarta.
He meanwhile said those who would join the second batch were now still being recorded while the date of the departure of the second batch still had yet to be determined.
Sanusi said he received the order to evacuate the Indonesian nationals in Libya from Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa on Thursday (Feb 24).(*)
