London (ANTARA News/Reuters) - Britain said on Saturday it had temporarily closed its embassy in the Libyan capital and pulled out its staff because of the deteriorating security situation.

The government also said that two British military transport planes had evacuated more than 150 civilians from the Libyan desert.

Hundreds of British oil workers have been stranded at camps in Libya amid a revolt against the rule of Muammar Gaddafi. (*)
