Jambi (ANTARA News) - Police arrested four suspected drug traffickers in two different places in Jambi province this week, a spokesman said on Saturday.

Two of the suspects were arrested in Jambi city and the other two in Sarolangun district on Wednesday, Chief of the Jambi Provincial Police`s Public Relations Division Snr Comr Almansyah said.

Almansyah said the suspects arrested in Jambi were identified as Aswandi and Aswan from whom the police seized about five grams of crystal methamphetamine (shabu-shabu).

The arrest followed a "transaction" between the suspects and a member of Jambi provincial police detective unit who pretended to be a buyer, he said.

Both had been charged with consuming and trafficking in shabu-shabu, he said.

If found guilty, they could be sentenced to a maximum of five years` imprisonment under article 112 of Law No. 35 of 1999.

He said the two drug suspects arrested in Sarolangun district were identified as Agustiar and Ahmad Zuhdi. They were arrested in a raid on Wednesday following tip-offs from the public.

During the raid, police seized a total of 27 ecstasy pills and two grams of shabu-shabu, he said.

The two were currently being investigated at the Sarolangun police resort, he said. (*)
