Boediono took the chance to observe a number of instruments used to process sea waves into electrical power.Perth, Australia (ANTARA News) - Indonesian Vice President Boediono on Thursday visited Carnagies`s Wave Energy Research Facility at Fremantle Port in Perth to get inputs on the possibility of Indonesia using wave energy to generate electricity.
During the visit the vice president was briefed by the management of the research facility on how Australia had successfully taken advantage of wave energy to generate electricity to meet power demand from local people.
Boediono took the chance to observe a number of instruments used to process sea waves into electrical power.
A number of countries had made use of sea waves to produce electrical power and Indonesia was eager to follow suit, he said.
"Admittedly, I was looking forward to visiting this place (before leaving for Australia). As a maritime country, Indonesia can certainly apply such technology," he said.
He expressed hope that once Indonesia was able to apply the technology it would no longer rely on natural resources to generate electricity.
Boediono was during the visit accompanied by Indonesian Education Minister M Nuh, State Administrative Reforms EE Mangindaan, a number of Indonesian officials in Perth.
Australia is well known for its success in applying sea wave technology to produce alternative energy.(*)
