Kalla who is also a former vice president said that PMI had yet to send the assistance because it was still waiting for its readiness to its door for assistance.
Solo, C Java (ANTARA News)- The Indonesia Red Cross (PMI) is ready to provide assistance to Japan which was hit by an earthquake and tsunami on March 11, 2011, PMI Chairman Jusuf Kalla said.

"PMI has prepared relief assistance and its volunteers who would be sent to the disaster-stricken Japan," Kalla said on the sidelines of a seminar on the strategy of raising the nation`s competitiveness here on Tuesday.

Kalla who is also a former vice president said that PMI had yet to send the assistance because it was still waiting for its readiness to its door for assistance.

Relief assistance which was being prepared was in the form of food such as instant noodles, milk and other food stuffs.

"I am confident Japan is able to overcome the disaster itself because it has advanced and applied technology," Jusuf Kalla said.

Referring to the volunteers the PMI is preparing, Kalla said that for now there are about 20 persons consisting of comprised paramedics and doctors.

"We will send the relief assistance as soon as Japan opens the door for outsiders` assistance," the PMI chairman said.(*)
