Chief of Criminal Unit at Kebayoran lama`s police precinct Iptu Prayitno on Thursday stated the bomb was wrapped inside a book and was received by Ahmad Dhani`s staff at around 9.30 AM.
The book titled "Bom Yahudi Militan" was sent by someone named Alamsyah Muthar with an address at Jalan Dermaga 21, Bogor, West Java. Prayitno said the staff who received the package then called the police.
Earlier, a staff of the Radio News Agency 68 H in Jalan Utan Kayu received a package which was addressed to Ulil Abshar Abdalla, activist of the Liberal Islam Network (JIL), Chief of National Anti-Drugs Board Gories Mere and Chief of Pancasila Youth Association Yapto Soeryosumarno.
The package contained a thick book which has been implanted with explosives. The package in Utan Kayu was exploded when police were trying to defuse it. Three men was injured in that incident namely police commissioner Dody Rahmawan, Ipda Bara Libra Sagita and a security personnel Mulyana.
Following the bombing incident at the KBR 68H Radio News Agency in Utan Kayu, the police had beefed up security around the crime scene.
"Safety and security measures around the crime scene have been increased," said Jakarta Police Chief Inspector General Sutarman, after visiting the bombing victims at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had instructed the national police to investigate Tuesday`s book parcel bomb explosion in Utan Kayu, East Jakarta, thoroughly and conclusively, one of his spokesmen said.
"The police have been asked to immediately investigate the case until the perpetrator(s) have been caught." presidential spokesperson Julian Pasha said.
Julian said the president had also told the police to make sure bombing attacks with a new modus operandi such as Tuesday`s incident in Utan Kayu would not recur.
The President expressed concern about the fact that the Utan Kayu incident had caused injury to a number of people, Julian said.
He denied allegations the bombing incident had been orchestrated to divert the people`s attention from major national problems the government had not been able to solve.
