Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Intelligence services do not always work effectively or successfully, head of the National Counter-terrorism Agency Ansyaad Mbai said here on Saturday.

"Intelligence operations also sometimes give way, and it happens not only in Indonesia but also in other countries around the world," Ansyaad said at a discussion here.

He said that each time after a bomb explosion, the people frequently questioned the work of intelligence.

And in the terrors with parcel bomb, he said the people also questioned the way how the Intel work.

"The intelligence has been working properly," he said, asking the people to entrust the management of parcel bomb terror to the police.

According to him the police at present is working hard to

reveal the mode, target, and the culprit of the parcel bomb terror.

But he admitted that the problem being faced by the intelligence was in inadequate funds and limited authority.

Therefore he suggested that the House of Representatives (DPR) and the government immediately make a law on intelligence in order to

provide space for the police and the intelligence to act proactively.

"The existing law gives less authority to the police and intelligence," he said.

Ansyaad expressed hope that the bill on intelligence being discussed at the DPR could improve the role and authority of the intelligence.
