"We should trust the police to investigate the parcel bomb cases."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The current parcel bomb issue should not be used to discredit Islam, a legislator from PKS (Prosperous Justice Party) said here Monday.

"I call on all parties to refrain from voicing baseless opinions. We should trust the police to investigate the parcel bomb cases. It should not be politicized that benefit certain people only and corner Islam," Jazuli Juwaini, PKS legislator, said.

The bomb terrors must not be identify with Islamic groups, he said.

Islam is a peaceful religion, and if someone understands Islam well, he or she will never send bombs to any body, according to him.

"If there is a Muslim does that, it must not be linked to Islam. Islam also denounces all kind of terror acts, violence and despotic treatments," he said.

"It`s too early to link them (the parcel bomb terrors) to a certain group allegedly disappointing about the prolonged Ahmadiyah problem or the trial of Abu Bakar Ba`asyir," he said.

Last Tuesday (March 15), three bomb-contained packages were sent to three locations, namely to Ulil Abshar Abdalla, activist of "Islam Liberal Network (JIL)", at Utan Kayu, East Jakarta, to General Commissioner Goreis Mere, head of the National Narcotic Agency (BNN), Yapto S Soeryosumarno, head of "Pemuda Pancasila (state ideology)."

Last Thursday (March 17), another bomb package was sent to musician Ahmad Dani.

Spokesman of Jakarta Police Senior Commissioner Baharuddin Jafar said earlier that the explosion at Utan Kayu injured at least three persons.

One of the victims is the head of East Jakarta police detective unit, Senior Commissioner Dodi Rachmawan who suffered an injury in his hand. Dody Rachmawan, set off the bomb as he attempted to defuse the package contained a thick book which has been implanted with explosives, with his bare hands.
