Manado, N. Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - North Sulawesi province would have exported 25 tons of coconut flour to Australia in March, a local government official said here Monday.

"The total worth of coconut flour export is expected to reach US$45,920," Head of North Sulawesi province`s foreign trade, industrial and commercial office Hanny Wajong said.

The coconut flour was exported to meet the needs of Australian market for food ingredients.

"The coconut flour is an option in many countries because its quality is as good as other ingredients and it is cheaper than other flour made of other types of raw materials," Hanny said.

North Sulawesi`s coconut flour was not only exported to Australia and New Zealand but also to some other countries, he said.

This condition had made the coconut flour be one of the most popular products in the province.

Coconut flour is one of the refined palm products made of coconut.

Currently, five companies had been exporting the coconut flour to various countries, including Rusia and Bosnia.(*)
