Medan (ANTARA News) - Police in North Sumatra have questioned six witnesses over the death of three villagers in Belawan linked to rumours on black magic.

"Six witnesses have been questioned," the North Sumatra regional police command's head of public relations Senior Commissioner Hery Subiansauri said to ANTARA here on Saturday.

According to records the case broke following the stabbing of Torang Panjaitan, a newsman in Medan who came to meet Gobertus Sinaga (56) and his wife, Rohana Siregar (50) who were reported to have "begu ganjang" (black magic) on Thursday (March 31).

Gobertus Sinaga who did not like his arrival pummeled Torang Panjaitan and stabbed him. Torang later died after he was taken to a hospital.

Due to his death, villagers who live around Gobertus and seemed not to like Gobertus much got angry and then came to his house and attacked him and also his wife causing them to die.

Hery said the witnesses coming from the two rivals had talked about rumours Gobvertus had begu ganjang.

He said the police had not named the suspect "as so far they have all died."(*)
